April 6, 20-16
News Release - City of Siloam Springs

Gates Logo 2Wednesday, April 6, 2016 (Siloam Springs, Ark.) At approximately 1:55 a.m. Siloam Springs Police
Department responded to a bomb threat at Gates Corporation located at 1801 N. Lincoln in Siloam Springs. SSPD worked with Gates to follow their protocols and quickly evacuate the building.

Lincoln Street between Brashears Road and Cheri Whitlock was closed to secure the perimeter and allow law enforcement to safely conduct searches. Siloam Springs Police Department did receive support from the University of Arkansas' explosive detection canine.

"It is vital that our police department work closely with private entities in situations like this", said
Deputy Police Chief Geoff Lewis, who was on the scene. "For a department to come in and search a building without previous knowledge of what belongs and what does not is not effective. Therefore we work closely with the private company to follow their protocols and let them give us the proper information".

After multiple sweeps of the building, no devices were found and SSPD left the scene at approximately 6:10 a.m. Employees were then allowed back into the building. Normal operations have resumed.

The investigation of the bomb threat is still ongoing. Anyone with information about the persons
responsible for this threat are asked to contact the Siloam Springs Police Department Criminal
Investigation Detachment at 479-524-4118.
