Candidate Forum Dec 7 2017

The Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce will host a forum for candidates for At-Large Position 5 on the Siloam Springs City Board of Directors on Thursday, Dec. 7. The event will be held in the Siloam Springs High School Seminar Room, starting at 6:30 and concluding at 8pm. Sponsoring companies are Comprehensa and Generations Bank. American Legion Post 29 will act as Sergeant-At-Arms and the Siloam Springs Republican Women will provide refreshments.

Candidates for the position are Reid Carroll, Jerry Cavness, and Karl Mounger. The winner will fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Lucas Roebuck, who took a job transfer and left over three years of the term to be served.

Chamber of Commerce Board member Kendall Layman of Cobb-Vantress will be the emcee. He will question the candidates on a variety of issues that have been on the Board agenda over the past few months, as well some current issues before the Board or expected to be brought to the Board soon. Each candidate will be allowed three minutes for opening remarks and two minutes for closing remarks. They will rotate being the first to answer the prepared questions. Those attending the event will be offered the opportunity to provide questions to the emcee. Those unable to attend are encouraged to go to the Chamber of Commerce Facebook page for a live stream of the event.

The Special Election will be held on Dec. 12; the main local voting place will be the Community Building on Mt. Olive Street. Early voting will be open from Dec. 5 through 8 and Dec. 11, at the Benton County Clerk’s office on Lincoln Street. If no candidate receives a majority of the votes, a run-off election will be held on Jan. 9, 2018.
