Jesus shared a message of love and reconciliation. He helped people spiritually and physically and told them how they could find God and be saved. For this he was persecuted, beaten and finally killed. He commanded His followers to take up where He left off and to continue to spread His message of forgiveness and salvation. He warned His followers to expect persecution, just like He received, but that in the face of that oppression they were to love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them. He encouraged them not to fear what man can do to them and that even if they have to forfeit their lives, they would have eternal life with Him. Their sins are forgiven and they will not be judged.

Just as Jesus forgave those who were crucifying Him, He commands us to forgive and reach out to those who would despise us. Jesus is the only way to God and they need to know that.

If they wont listen to our words, perhaps they will listen to our actions. “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:35
